Domi
Welcome fellow Gamers (both RPG & Wargamer) to Nadrakas's RPG Corner. This is where you will find what I hope are useful tidbits of information, some rants, and the obligatory rules edits & self-generated campaign information (for various Gaming Systems).
The going may be slow on my part for numerous reasons. The main reason being that I've been Gaming for a loooong time (See In Perspectiva: Captilum I and read from there...) and there is just an abundance of hand written stuff that I have in various notebooks, boxes and other sundry places. Add to that soft-copy formats that are no longer supported and need to be converted to modern formats and...well, there is a lot of work that needs to be accomplished (which may never, truly be finished). Of course, real life - family, work, and regular Gaming, are factors when it comes to how fast I can transfer from paper to soft-copy or convert from older to newer soft-copy formats, so you'll have to bear with me.
I have put this off for a long time (Way too long...), but recently decided to "take the plunge" as the saying goes. I would like to share with my fellow Gamers my ideas and experiences. I am not an "expert" at Gaming - far from it. However, I have Game Mastered for somewhere in the vicinity of 300+ players, many from around the world, and quite a few of them were some of the best gamers I've ever met. Over the last 3 1/2 decades, the vast majority of which I have spent running games, my Players have continuously challenged me as a Game Master. Not in an adversarial or confrontational manner - though that did, in a handful of cases, happen. No, my Player's have continuously challenged me to Improve as a Game Master. Whether it was to understand the Rules better, work on my Improvisation, integrate Props & Music into the game, become a better Storyteller, or any number of thing, I have had to continuously Improve.
And that is a good thing. Why? Because, as a Game Master, it's my Primary Job to provide a "Framework of Entertainment" for the Players, whether that Framework is a simple Dungeon Crawl, an Epic Campaign, a Megaversal Spanning War, or a Dark Brooding Vampiric Goth Story, it all comes down to providing a good, solid Framework that the Players can derive Entertainment from. Of course this does not Obviate the Player's from supporting the Game, from providing Entertainment - both for themselves and the rest of the group. Indeed, the Player's are a key element in building onto the "Framework of Entertainment," and without input and help the Players the Framework just collapses like a House of Cards. Hmm...I suppose this is another area that I'll have to write on. Well, more on the "Framework of Entertainment" later.
Anyway, take a look around and see what you can see. Check back from time to time, and I hope you find something that you like.
